340B Health Statement on House E&C Oversight Subcommittee Hearing

in 340B Health News Releases

October 11, 2017—340B President and Chief Executive Officer Ted Slafsky issued this statement today about the House Energy & Commerce oversight subcommittee hearing on how 340B healthcare providers use their savings: “We’re pleased with the subcommittee’s bipartisan expressions of support for the 340B program. The members heard compelling testimony from the witnesses about how 340B gives them the flexibility to use their savings not just to lower drug prices for patients, but to support wrap-around and preventive services tailored to their communities’ unique needs. It also was good for the subcommittee to learn that when private oncology practices merge with 340B hospitals, those practices’ patients get access to hospital financial assistance, patient navigation, and other support services. As you know, private practice oncologists routinely refer low-income, uninsured, and under-insured patients to 340B hospitals.”
