New Blog on 340B Drug Discount Program Launched
Washington, D.C.—340B Informed – a new, free source of news and commentary about the 340B drug discount program – launched today as the successor to the subscription-based Drug Discount Monitor newsletter.
The new blog will report on 340B news and related developments. Its mission: to educate the 340B community, policymakers, and the general public about 340B developments and to analyze their impact on safety-net providers’ ability to care for underserved patients.
340B Informed is published by 340B Health, the association of hospitals and health systems in the 340B program. The program lets safety-net healthcare providers buy prescription drugs at a discount so they can stretch resources, serve more patients, and improve services. 340B is not taxpayer funded. It is more important than ever with drug prices rising and many patients still unable to pay for care.
“Interest in the 340B program has grown in recent years and it's important for decisions about its future to be grounded in the best information available,” said Ted Slafsky, President and Chief Executive Officer of 340B Health. “We think it's in the public interest for us to make the material that the Monitor covered free to everyone through 340B Informed. We want to widen the circle of people we reach.”
Former Monitor subscribers can access 340B Informed immediately with their existing user name and password. New readers need to register just once. Registration is free and includes access to the Monitor's story archive.
