Dr. Adrian Moran returned to MaineHealth as their System Chief Medical and Transformation Officer in November 2024. MaineHealth is an eleven-hospital integrated health system caring for communities in Maine and New Hampshire. His responsibilities include oversight of hospital medical staffs, research, academics, quality and safety, medical information systems, specialty service lines, and emergency medical services. He will also play a key role in supporting MaineHealth’s value of innovation, not only by transforming delivery of care, but also through oversight of extensive research and academic endeavors.
Formerly, Dr. Moran was the Chief Medical Officer at Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee, WI. Prior to that, he was in physician leadership roles of increasing responsibility at MaineHealth Maine Medical Center Portland from 2003 – 2022, most recently as MHMMC’s Vice President of Medical Affairs and Chief of Logistics during the COVID pandemic.
Dr. Moran is a board-certified pediatric and adult congenital cardiologist with particular expertise in advanced imaging. A native of Ireland, he graduated from medical school at University College in Dublin, Ireland. He is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and holds an MBA in Healthcare from Brandeis University in Boston. He completed his core residency and fellowship at Boston Children’s Hospital and was on staff there for three years where his research focused on myocardial mechanics. He previously worked as a consultant with McKinsey and Company focusing on healthcare/ pharmaceuticals/ medical devices.
