Onisis Stefas

Chief Executive Officer

Vivo Health – Northwell Health

Dr. Stefas has dedicated his career to improving pharmaceutical operations and leading strategic objectives with over a decade of leadership at Northwell Health, beginning his tenure as director of pharmacy services at Long Island Jewish Forest Hills and more recently as chief pharmacy officer for the organization. Dr. Stefas is currently the chief executive officer of Vivo Health, Northwell’s for-profit subsidiary. Developing a culture of performance with a deep understanding of the healthcare landscape and the needs of key stakeholder partnerships, Dr. Stefas has identified crucial growth opportunities to positively impact New York State’s largest healthcare system.

Energized by challenges and driven by an authentic desire to serve others and help shape positive patient experiences with accessible pharmaceutical services, Dr. Stefas supports personalized, evidence-based care across the continuum through integrated pharmacy solutions. His leadership was integral in enabling Vivo Health Pharmacy to expand from one retail pharmacy to ten locations including three accredited specialty pharmacies, a mail order pharmacy, and 24/7 clinical call center.

Unfazed by challenges, Dr. Stefas exudes a high-level of integrity with a commitment to getting the job done and surpassing expectations. His personal philosophy mirrors Warren Bennis, “Leadership is the capacity to translate vision into reality.”

Respected in the industry as a dynamic leader and pivotal strategist, Dr. Stefas is widely acclaimed for his contributions in media and academia with multiple appointments at top-ranked universities and medical schools including Hofstra University, George Washington University, Binghamton University, and St. John’s University.

Prior professional roles leading pharmacy operations include tenures at Target Corporation and CVS Health.

Following completion of his Doctor of Pharmacy degree at Albany College of Pharmacy, Dr. Stefas received a Master of Business Administration from Hofstra University. He has multiple professional affiliations including American Society of Health System Pharmacists, New York State Council of Health System Pharmacists, and Health System Outpatient Specialty Pharmacy (HOSP) Alliance.

Dr. Stefas resides on Long Island where he enjoys supporting the local community through his professional work and spending time with his family. Most recently, he participated in New York City’s ticker tape parade alongside Mayor Bill De Blasio in recognition for his strategic efforts in rolling out COVID-19 vaccines for five million New Yorkers. Philanthropic contributions remain close to his heart where he actively volunteers with Ronald McDonald House Charities.
