Sumona DasGupta

Director for Business Development and Strategic Initiatives

University of Washington (UW) Medicine

Sumona DasGupta, J.D. is the Director for Business Development and Strategic Initiatives for the University of Washington (UW) Medicine primarily located in Seattle, Washington.  In this role, she oversees all business development in the pharmacy department across multiple hospitals including an academic medical center, level 1 trauma center, primary care network, and community hospital.  This role oversees the 340B program, expansion of pharmacy services through partnerships with stakeholders, and is focused on creating pharmacy programs that increase value to our patients.   

Prior to this role, DasGupta served as the Assistant Director for Compliance and Audit, overseeing all compliance functions in the pharmacy department, regulatory affairs including rule and legislation development and operational execution, and is the liaison to the Washington State Pharmacy Association, Washington State Hospital Association, and the WA Pharmacy Quality Assurance Commission. Prior to joining UW Medicine, she served as hospital’s Compliance Officer for Valley Medical Center, a public hospital district in King County, and as a lawyer at K&L Gates in their healthcare practice with a focus on mergers and acquisitions.

DasGupta also serves as a board member to Community Credit Lab, an organization focused on restricting the financial system to service all communities and provider affordable credit, vice-president for the Multicultural Alumni Partnership, an organization to create a space of belonging for alumni of color, and a board member of Washington Immigration Defense Network, an organization that funds and facilitates representation for lawyers representing low-income detained immigrants.

DasGupta received her undergraduate and law degree from the University of Washington.  She is admitted to the Washington State Supreme Court.
