WASHINGTON, D.C.— Sherrie Williams, M.D., M.H.S, Past President of MetroHealth System Medical Staff in Cleveland, today became the new chair of the 340B Health Board of Directors, which represents nearly 1,400 hospitals and health systems that participate in the 340B drug pricing program.

Dr. Williams will serve a two-year term as board chair, replacing outgoing chair Samuel Ross, M.D., M.S., who is the Chief Executive Officer of Bon Secours Baltimore Health System and Executive Vice President at Bon Secours Health System, Inc. Dr. Ross will continue to serve on the board as immediate-past chair.

“I am honored to take on the role of chair of the 340B Health Board of Directors,” Dr. Williams said. “I look forward to continuing to advance our shared mission of advocating on behalf of the millions of patients living with low incomes and in rural areas who rely on the safety-net hospitals that participate in 340B.”

Dr. Williams is a pulmonary critical care specialist and an Associate Professor of Medicine at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. She chairs MetroHealth's Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee, through which she serves as the physician leader of the pharmacy, responsible for the safety and quality of medication being prescribed and dispensed.

Locally, Dr. Williams is a champion and advocate for chronic disease management. She has collaborated with the St. Luke’s Foundation, the Cuyahoga County Board of Health, and other community leaders on various initiatives in the areas of asthma and smoking cessation. At a national level, she is the Immediate Past Chair for the Education Committee for America’s Essential Hospitals. Her work locally and nationally reflects her interests and background in health care education, public health, health policy, and finance.

“We are thrilled to have Dr. Williams, a patient care champion and renowned expert in her field, taking on the important role of board chair for our association,” said 340B Health President and CEO Maureen Testoni. “We look forward to seeing the strong leadership, new ideas, and dedication to success that Dr. Williams will bring to this position. We also thank Dr. Ross for his two years of exemplary service as board chair and are pleased that he will stay on in a continuing leadership role for our board.”
