STATEMENT ON NEW DIRECTOR OF HRSA OFFICE OF PHARMACY AFFAIRS

in 340B Health News Releases

WASHINGTON, D.C.— The following statement on the appointment of a new director of the Health Resources & Services Administration (HRSA) Office of Pharmacy Affairs (OPA) is attributed to 340B Health President and CEO Maureen Testoni:

“On behalf of safety-net hospitals participating in the 340B drug pricing program, we congratulate Dr. Emeka Egwim on his appointment as OPA director, and we look forward to working with him to further the vital patient care mission that is at the heart of 340B. His impressive level of experience working on 340B, Medicaid drug rebates, and HIV/AIDS care makes him an excellent choice to lead this office at this critical time.”

“We also thank Michelle Herzog for her expert stewardship of OPA as the acting director in recent months. We look forward to our continued work with Michelle in her service as OPA deputy director and with Rear Admiral Krista Pedley as the leader of the HRSA Office of Special Health Initiatives (OSHI), which oversees OPA. Their dedication to public health has made them invaluable government partners for safety-net providers, including through their steadfast commitment to enforcing the 340B law’s requirement that pharmaceutical companies provide discounts on drugs dispensed through community-based pharmacies. OSHI and OPA remain in excellent hands.”
