Statement By 340B Health Interim President and CEO Maureen Testoni on President Trump’s Proposed International Pricing Index Model
WASHINGTON, D.C.—“We are reviewing the details of the administration’s proposed International Pricing Index (IPI) Model and its implications for 340B hospitals and the patients they serve. We are concerned that, depending on how it is implemented, the IPI proposal could prohibit 340B hospitals from accessing the statutory discounts the law guarantees but might not provide sufficient reduction in prices to offset these losses. The savings 340B provides eligible hospitals allow them to offset some of the uncompensated care costs they incur and support vital services that might otherwise be unavailable. Finally, we question whether the proposed IPI mechanism used to purchase drugs could be considered a group purchasing organization. The 340B program prohibits many 340B hospitals from using a GPO.”
