STATEMENT REGARDING GAO REPORT ON 340B HOSPITAL CONTRACTS
WASHINGTON, D.C.,— The following statement on today’s Government Accountability Office report is attributed to 340B Health President and CEO Maureen Testoni:
“The systems in place to identify and verify hospitals that are eligible to participate in the 340B drug pricing program work, and they work well. GAO has identified a handful of hospital contracts for which they have some questions. Hospitals are always ready and willing to answer such questions. The fact is, 340B hospitals provide 60 percent of all uncompensated care in the U.S. while representing only 38 percent of acute care hospitals. Patients served include those who have no insurance and those with public or private coverage, including Medicaid.”
